Homebirth Malpractice or Professional Indemnity Insurance: There are endless articles by private midwives from many countries, telling the horror stories of how difficult it is (if not impossible) to get professional indemnity insurance for private midwives practicing homebirth.
Over the past 4 years, Sinclair Insurance Company offers repeatedly Personal Liability Insurance Policies (covering both public or general liability AND professional indemnity) online, at Sinclair's website at www.sinclairpremium.com - including the cover for midwives, private midwives, who practice homebirth (There are at least two other insurance companies who offer this cover - but I refer to the offer available online by Sinclair).
For some reason (and the SEO problem is not one of them...) most of the private midwives do not use this option.
Well, some of them (maybe a lot of them) do not use the internet as a search tool for their insurance needs, and maybe other portion of them do not shop online - but still, if there is such a dramatic need why dont most of them try it?
